About the Colloquium
The International Colloquium on Philosophy as a Way of Life is animated by two fundamental questions: What does it mean to flourish, and how can the practice of philosophy help us to achieve such a state? These enduring questions often recede from view in the modern world or are considered to be settled. Upon deeper examination, however, the prevailing answers (whether explicit or implicit) often prove to be questionable, if not troubling. The Colloquium affirms the wisdom that such questions need to be thoughtfully posed and pursued by each generation, gleaning the wisdom that has been imparted across the ages.
To this end, each winter we convene scholars who bring philosophical thought to bear on issues central to human life and flourishing. The papers discussed are intended for publication in academic journals, collected volumes or monographs.
This colloquium is by invitation only and does not accept unsolicited manuscripts.
